The Firm · Est. 1970

Advocacy,
inherited and earned.

VERMANCO is a family practice of advocates, established in 1970. What passes from one generation to the next is a standard of work, and each generation has to earn it afresh.

Our Story

Established in 1970.Carried forward since.

A legal brief tied with red tape beside a fountain pen, spectacles and a cup of tea
Est.1970

More than five decades on, VERMANCO remains a practice of advocates in the plain meaning of the words: people who attend court, advise clients and answer personally for the work they do.

It is also a family practice, whose advocates share the Verma name. Between generations of a practice, what passes is less a set of files than a set of habits: how to read a brief, how to prepare for a hearing, how to speak with a client who is worried.

The firm acts across the areas of law that ordinary life and business bring to an advocate's door: property and family, crime and commerce, tax and intellectual property.

The aim is simple to state and demanding to meet.

Understand the client's position completely. Prepare as though the outcome depends on it, because it often does. Tell the truth about prospects. Keep confidences.

Across Generations

One practice, in three chapters.

A practice that spans more than five decades is better understood through what it holds to than through a list of dates. Each chapter below describes a commitment, renewed by those who take the practice on.
  1. Chapter I

    Foundation · 1970

    A practice is established

Everything since rests on the expectations any client is entitled to bring to an advocate: preparation, honesty and personal attention, whatever the size of the matter.

  2. Chapter II

    Continuity

    Handed down, and earned again

A family practice lasts only if each generation takes the standard as its own rather than relying on the name. Continuity, for us, lies in the habits of the work: careful reading, honest advice and attention to the client in front of us.

  3. Chapter III

    Today

    Seven advocates, two chambers

Seven advocates now practise from chambers at Surajpur District Court in Gautam Budh Nagar and the Meerut District & Sessions Court. The law they practise keeps changing, not least with the new criminal laws in force since 1 July 2024, and the work changes with it.

Values

What we hold to.

Integrity

Advice to a client is honest advice, including when it is unwelcome. Conduct before the court is governed by the duties an advocate owes to it, and no client's interest overrides them.

Diligence

Files are read, deadlines are kept and hearings are prepared for. Diligence is unglamorous, and it decides more matters than eloquence does.

Clarity

The law is complicated; advice about it need not be. We explain positions in plain language, in writing where that helps, so that clients can decide with understanding.

Respect for every matter

A boundary dispute over a small plot can matter as much to a family as a commercial claim does to a company. Each matter is given the care its client needs.

Responsibility

A name carried since 1970 is a responsibility before it is an asset. Each advocate of the firm answers for the standard it stands for.

Our Commitments

What every client can expect.
